For this post, I want you to list the film you'll be discussing and the archetypes within the film you plan on analyzing.
For example, as you can see by the sample introduction, I would be analyzing the film Sunshine through the archetypes of 1. Regeneration of Time, 2. Divine Models, and 3. Shadow.
1. The film I will be discussing is The Wizard of Oz.

3. A few symbols in the film are the yellow brick road, the ruby slipper, broom and fire just to list a few.

ReplyDelete"A Walk to Remember" is the film I will be commenting on. A few archetypes adressed in the film are love, acceptance, and maturity. A couple of symbols are religion (Jaime's faith in Landon for example) and kindness (treating those who do wrong and do good equally).
The film that I will be critiquing is the film "The Book of Eli". Finding new life, the Sun, and water are some of the archetypes that were indicated in this film. One important symbol in this movie is a book which represnts religion. Another is are sunglasses.

2. Divine Modes through the characters names: Alpha, beta, delta, gamma.
3. The Hero which in the film i believe it's John Cooper "the savage".
The Book of Eli will be my choice of movies I will be discussing. The archetypes I will discuss will be the relation to religion, water, a new life, and the sun.

Divine Models of Rituals- Robert Neville 3. Regeneration of time- had an alarm watch to keep him on track when the dark-seekers will come out. The sun was also part of it.

ReplyDeleteI will be anaylyzing Jim Henson's "Labyrinth." I will focus and discuss the humbolism of the center; the road to the center with is the Labyrinth it self, the restoration of primordial chaos, profane vs. sacred time, and regeneration to time. There were also symbols such as the moon, and the white owl.
I will be writing a film analysis of Miyazaki Hayao's "Spirited Away". I will discuss about the supernatural world, the gods/demons/spirits, the rite of passage, and the negative aspects of urbanization. The archetypes I will use to connect my analysis are the symbolism of the center, the regeneration of time, and the divine models of rituals.

ReplyDeleteThe film that I will be analyzing is Volver by the Spaniard director Pedro Almodóvar.
I will discuss death, resilience, forgiveness, and the secrets that a women has. The archetypes I will be discussing in order to connect my analysis are the symbolism of the regeneration of time, symbolism of the center, and the divine models of the names in the names of the actresses and the villages in where all the action takes place.
The film I have chosen to analyze is "The Lake House". The archetypes in the film I will be focusing on are, symbolism of the center, profane vs. sacred time, and the road to the center. Some symbols that are important in the movie are, the mailbox, letters, paw rints, and love lost and found.

The movie i chose is Coraline.
ReplyDeleteThe theory, by Eliade, that applies the most to Coraline is his theory of the Regeneration of Time. The three archetypes that seemed the most important in the film were the house as a shadow archetype, the Beldam as a shadow mother, and the moon as Coraline’s grasp on reality.
