For this post, research and explain the history (both personal and etymological) behind your name.
For example, "Matthew" comes from the Hebrew Mattathyah meaning "gift of Jehovah," and Matthew was one of the 12 apostles in the Bible and wrote the first book of the New Testament.
I wasn't named after any relative, but apparently, my father was inspired by the character of Marshal Matt Dillon from the television western Gunsmoke.
Those are the "celestial models" behind my first name.
Kayla is Hebrew for “who is like God.” The name means “pure”, “slim”, and “fair.” My mom named me after her favorite character Kayla on the soap opera “Days of Our Lives.”

Joe is a name of English origin and carries no deep meaning. However, the name Joseph, which is often shortened to Joe, originates from Hebrew and translates to "the Lord will increase/add.

Robert, According to behindthename.com comes from the Germanic name Hrodebert meaning "bright fame", Normans introduced this name to Britain.It replaced the Old English cognate Hreodbeorht. It has been a very common English name since that time. Unfortunately, my mother named me after some guy who she was dealing with named "robert", to make my real father "napoleon" upset.
ReplyDeleteThe name Griselda traces its roots from Germany, it literally means "grey battle." Griselda is common in English and Spanish speaking countries. Though my mother was not aware of the literal meaning, she just wanted to call me gris a short nickname for Griselda which in spanish means grey her favorite color.

The name "Sandy" originates from Greece "Sandee" meaning "defender, protector of man." The name "Sandy" is originally short for Alexandra or Alexander.
The reason why my parents choose to name me Sandy was because of the main character's name in the movie "Grease."

My name is Azusena (aka Azucena, but they misspelled it when I was born). My parents named me after one of my cousins because my mom liked how it sounded. My name is arabian and it means madonna lily in Spanish: it is a flower and its scientific name is polianthes tuberosa.

My last name, Mendoza, is of Spanish origin and means "one who came from Mendoza (cold, snowy or high mountains); from the Basque root "mendi" suggesting son of mountain dweller."

All my aunts, my dad and mom were a very different name for me, so they made a draw with all names. The winners were Mayra and Erika, I asked to my aunts for a reason of these names; but they told me that they love these names. It was a reason that they chose my names.
