Hello All,

For this post, describe the advertisements that are most appealing to you; in other words, which archetypes do these advertisements use, and why do you think they appeal to you?

  1. When I open a magazine the advertisements that appeal to me the most have to do with food especially desserts. Some archetypes that will fall under this category would be the jester because sometimes I know the product wouldn't be healthy for me but it still looks so good and they trick me into thinking it will be ok to eat. Another one would be the creator because for instance I know if I were to cook the dish on the page it wouldn't look anything like the picture.

  2. The advertisements that appeal to me the most have to do with make up or fashion. Some archetypes that are used would be the Innocent and the lover. The innocent is used by products such as Philoisophy by displaying innocent children to adverist there products to be innocent and pure. The lover is portrayed by using colors such as pink, white or red that appeal to the lover because they represent passion, romance and beauty.

I like the lover and innocent because the ads are usually really beautiful and pleasing to the eye, and that makes me want to buy their product. I like the jester because I like to laugh, and I like ads that make me laugh.

  5. I like advertisements that make me laugh, think, or surprise me. Archetypes that demonstrate these types of advertisements include: Jester, Sage, and Magician. One company that comes to mind is Jack in the Box. I think this company's advertisements appeal to me because they never stray from being the Jester; whether they show a stoner trying to order 99 tacos for 2 dollars or midgets in cowboy outfits singing songs, they are always true to their company's image.

  6. I enjoy looking at advertisements that have to do with fashion, and that are humorous. The archetypes that fit those are ones that have to do with the lover, explore, magician, and the jester. I think the lover appeals to me because I like advertisements that show two people coming together. Advertisements that consist of the explorer archetype are appealing to me because traveling is something I enjoy, and I like to see the different views of the world and how fashion is in different parts of the world. And magician and jester are appealing because, coming across an advertisement that is funny and eludes to your imagination , makes you want to read it.

  8. The advertisements that I like are those that have to do with love, fashion, and food. Love we see everywhere on TV, magazines, and books. I like to read books that tell a love story. I also like to compare it with my relationship. Fashion is also important because it's all over the world. Fashion constantly changes and I like to keep up with the new trends. Food is advertised all over and it's important that we see picture before taking a bite. A picture also makes you want to eat.

  9. When I open a magazine the most appealing advertisement that catches my attention is fashion. Fashion represents the archetype of the creator (creative, intelligent, and divine). Fashion catches my eye because of the artist creativity and shows the designers expresses passion to making something that looks good and divine. Fashion also represents the archetype of sage because of fashion use ads that the experts made. Fashion appeals to me the most in the magazine because of the fascinating designs and the new trends. Fashion is something that I really adore because it is something that I am passionate about and love to discover new trends from magazines.

The advertisements that most appeal to me would have to be of fashion, and movie trailers. The fashion advertisements have archetypes of sage; because it shows that the companies have the expertise on the latest fashion, and also creator. They use archetypes of creator because the fashion companies are creative and design different looks and use colors and symbols to catch the audience's eye. Movie trailers use archetypes of magician and try to spark some kind of emotion from the viewer. It uses the magician archetypes because the movie trailer will use it's most interesting scenes even though those scenes were edited from the movie. They use trickery in order to get you to watch their movie; through the use of music and words.

The advertisements that appeal to me are about fashion and beauty. These appeal to me because they make women feel better about themselves, and they are means of expression. The archetypes used are Creator and Ruler.

  13. For me the things to catch my eye when i'm looking at a magazine is when i see anything that entails fashion. So the archetype used here would definitely be the creator, or sometimes if its a perfume ad usually the advertisement will show a an attractive couple in an embrace to attract the reader's eye, i think what they're trying to convey is "If you buy this perfume, this could be you," so i think an ad like that would convey the lover archetype.

  14. For me it's hard to resist any ad that has an adorable baby in it. Babies are so cute and precious I love seeing these ads because they conjure up feelings of joy. The archtype that best fits this category is the innocent because it's associated with goodness, simplicity, and childhood.

  15. I enjoy seeing advertisements about tropical vacations because I love to travel and going on vacations has always been a happy time for me. The archetype that fits this would be the explorer: "find out who you are through exploring the world," (Mark & Pearson, p. 72). Everytime I go somewhere new I learn something about myself and my knowledge of the place and its people increases.

The advertisement I see in most internet sites, newspaper clippings, and commercials are the ones about the U.S.A military. They vary from the U.S Navy, National Guard, Amy, etc. but no matter what form they are in they are always shown everywhere. Each U.S military branch is completely different in how they operate and how they train people, but all their advertisements all have the same overall message. The advertisements use the archetype of being a Hero. They show how wonderful it is the serve one’s country and save other people who are suffering. These advertisements neglect to advertise the hardships and danger in being listed to the military, but they do show the benefits in being a Hero.

  17. By Justin Jordan Of course it dependes what mood I'm in, but most of the time I like adds that represent the archtypes dealing with either the innocent or creator. Most of all I like adds that are simple and remind me of my childhood; I don't like compexity most of the time. When adds get complex I like ones dealing with fashion that usually is represented by a sports star or entertainer;I like the old Michael Jordan adds "It must be the shoes" or a add dealing with some entertainer taliking about his or her clothing line or even a new clothing line.

The advertisements that catch my eye are the ones that are directed towards familys. These adds can be for food, cars, clothing, etc. They generaly promise that they can protect your family or offer better service than the thier leading competitor. These advertise to my heart. If a company offers 'protection' for my family and than follows through I will be a loyal customer for life!!

The advertisements that appeal most to me are ones that deal with beauty and style, especially in terms of fashion. The archetypes that best correspond to these specific advertisements are the lover because there are many seductive aspects to fashion and beauty advertisements and the creator because it appeals to the idea of creativity and thinking outside the box.

  21. The advertisements that appeal to me are video-game advertisements. There are many archetypes shown. An example would be the hero, which is pretty much the main character of the story who saves the world, the shadow which would be the antagonist of the story who is trying to destroy the world, and the lover as there is a love triangle present as 2 girls are aiming to fall in a relationship with the hero.

  22. The advertisements that appeal to me the most are those which deal with nature. I love outdoor activities and I like to use organic products. I like the "save the planet" advertisements. The archetypes shown are usually the explorer because of the search for self, and a better life. Secondly, the hero because we find solutions to problems to help save the earth. Thirdly, the sage because those who submerge themselves outdoors must have the knowledge of the environment. Then there is the magician because nature is a mystery to a lot of people. On some occasions the lover can be an archetype because there is some sensuality for and in nature.

  23. Advertisements that are most appealing to me hold characteristics of wit and humor, because they are filled with character and openness. Humorous advertisements are best associated to the archetype of the Jester. Sometimes, an advertisement with good humor sticks to my memory better than other advertisements especially if it sends a strong message in a comical fashion.

  24. Advertisements that appeal to me are funny ones, ones that have amazing stunts or action, some that make me think or even learn something new, and tree hugging ads. the archetypes that would apply would be the jester and sage. these catch my eye because i love to laugh and i love action; to me learning something new is great because i like learning new things, and im a biologist so the tree hugging commercials always make me want to help our planet even though we cant stop global warming.

  25. The type of advertising that appeals to me is those using out door scenes and sport activities, such as camping, skiing, off road exploring, mountain biking, trail running and outdoor equipment. I usually like Nike ads that use the hero archetype, The North Face ads; that are usually using the green archetype, type ads, and depict the “the lover” archetype.
