The video exemplifies Eliade’s concept of the repetition of the seasons. The beginning of the video shows a leaf blowing in the wind which symbolizes the fall season. Then we see the leaf in the water with snow and ice around it. This signifies winter. The spring season is shown by seeing the flowers bloom around the leaf and the leaf reunites with the other leaves. Summer is shown when the sun comes out and the leaves go back onto the tree. Fall and winter are considered seasons where things essentially begin to fall down and die out due to the cold weather. Spring and summer are seasons where things begin to bloom and come alive again.~ Kayla Risenhoover
The unification of different types of leaves (ginkgo, maple, etc.) in a single tree exhibits the "Indeterminate Unity" component of the Sacred Time.I like this song. :)
This video depicts Eliade's concept of the Cosmogonic Act. The leaf flows through the river as the seasons change and new life and vitality stem are presented after the fall and winter destitution. The symbolism at the end of the video in which the sun sets and the leaves return to the tree and then shine with the rising of the sun on the new day show Eliade's concept of a new era beginning.
The leaf is going through a labyrinth of life. It floats along life trying to make the right decisions. There's a moment where the leaf pauses determining if the path choosen was correct. At that moment clarity was made to keep pushing through lifes pathways. Once the leaf reached the center of the road, the labyrinth is complete with the joining of friends and new creation of life.Lakela Spencer
The part of the video where the leaves begin to walk represents the Abolition of Norms because in reality, leaves do not usually take a stroll down the road.
The river can be seen as guiding life to the center. Eliade calls this "Symbolism of the center." The leaves flow with the current of the river to their destination, the trees in the Spring.
the leafs represents the " returning of water." As the leaf is dipped into the river it at first is life less and sinful. As the leaf floats throught the river it is being washed from its "sins" hence the vitalizing scenery. Once the leaf is lifted from the river it starts to dance a feeling of revitalization and purification. The leaves are given a chance to begin the life cycle all over again
The leaf in the video, "Is A Women," by Lambchop represents "the seasons." When the video starts off you first notice a "RED" leaf floating with the wind. Anytime a leaf is red you can almost always assume its fall because thats the only time the leaf are of that color. Also like mentioned before the wind was blwoing the leaf so that represents fall. Then, as the leaf enters the stream, you notice that the kan has snow on it. Also, you'll notice that the bear when it breaths it lets out cold air. This represent winter. Then as the red leaf roughly flow through the downstream through the winter tough season, the leaf approaches land. The leaf begins to dance as it is joined by other dancing leaves. The leaf skips up the land to find a tree. This represent spring becasue everything begin to grow and blossom. When the leaves reach the tree they begin to grow and blossom. The leaf then climbs up the tree and then gets situated on a steam. Summer is represented when the sun comes out and you can see the transformation the leaves make when they go from being red leaves to fully blossomed green leaves.
One of Eliades's concepts that I noticed was the leaf, the leaf indicates labyrinth. The leaf was going through a journey of life through different periods of time as the seasons changes than eventually the leaf finds its way.
In the end of the video, the leaves return to the tree and as the video fades to black, the sun illuminates the tree again. Now, the leaves are apart of the tree, making it look normal. This indicates the end of the sacred time because everything returned to normal.
In the video Lambchop's "Is a Woman,"it starts out with clouds, trees, and a red leaf blowing. The season is fall since the wind is blowing the red leaf and the other leafs. Next the leaf falls and strolls down the river; as we see a bear breathing snow, with a fish swimming in a circle and then taking off. Soon, the leaf gets out the river and walks up the hill between to snow cliffs while other leafs follow behind. The red leaf leads his friends to spring where they change seasons and rest. A fresh start of spring and summer begins where the leafs can appreciate their work over the season.
Besides the concept of solar cycles, I see it as "Indeterminate Unity" because when the leaf falls it symbolizes death/fall. Then the leaf falls in the water which signifies purification and growth.I see this as a contrast between the purity of water and the death of the leaves. Then, the leaf starts walking from the water and at the end of the cycle it is Spring which is associated with youth and new. The leaf gives "place to another year, another era: that is, to the period when, through the reactualization of the Creation, the world in effect begins” (69).
"Is a Woman" exemplifies regeneration of time. It illustrates cosmogonic act. The video begins during the fall season, then winter, and lastly spring. The transition from winter to spring exemplifies a rebirth. It shows flowers blooming, birds flying, and the sun rising.-Monica Fraga
The way the video "Is a woman," exemplifies one of Eliade's concepts from The Myth of the Eternal Return is Cosmogonic Act where bio-cosmic rhythms cycle. Natural patterns that inspire ritual or repetition of life and death. The repetition of death and re-birth is either day by day, months, years, decades, or centuries. in the video the leaf represented death because the leaf was brown and because the leaf had fallen off the tree to take it's course once again. it also symbolize the Fall season, since leaves begin to fall of the trees. When the leaf takes it's course on the water or "road" symbolizes re-birth and cleansing. Also, snow appeared to be on the sides of this river therefore, the coming of winter had begun. However, when the leaf reached the end of this river, road, or water it somehow get happy and danced due to the fact that it was ready to begin life. Thsi happens when new people are born into the world to take the place on the people who died. While the leaves go back up to the tree symbolizes the growth of that person. When the leaves turn green and the sun shines, a new life has taken it's course. Consequently, the sun and green grass symbolizes the return of Spring time where everything flowers and looks colorful because it is alive. Sandy Torrealba
I noticed that in this video, one of the things that I found interesting was the very end when all of the dead, fallen leaves, approached the naked tree. The leaves (all different kinds of leaves that clearly came from different trees) approach the naked tree and walk up it and attach themselves to make a beautiful picture of green leaves on a live tree. This is very much a representation of "Abolition of Norms" because first off, dead leaves don't become the new leaves on a tree and also because different leaves come from different trees, not the same one. (not to mention the fact that leaves don't walk and dance!)
The video shows the cycle of the four seasons; it's the circle of life. A fallen leaf going through the cycle of life, death, and resurrection can also symbolize the change in a human being.--Heriberto Osorio
The video exemplifies the end of fall. It represents the suffering of leaves, and the river takes them through the same norm of every year. The different leaves leaving together represent the unity, and that they can change the norm. They skip winter and go into spring, which makes them alive again.Eric Baylon
The video "Is the Women" by lambchops exemplifies the suffering and obstacles that one goes through life. The river exemplifies the norm, and the different types of leaves walking on to the dirt onto the tree represent that anyone can change from their norm.Gricelda Gonzalez
When leave fell mean lost and death, but it fall in water in mean purification and live. The leave come to path of the life, when it in the water. Leave is going to center that it can be home, but the road to the center has a lot of obstacles because it is the hard one. Leave encounter there center and the happiness.Mayra Sosa
The video illustrates the cosmogonic act. Throughout the video we see the leave flowing through the river in a lethargic state, however when the leave exits the river, its state of being changes. It exits the river with enthusiasm; this represents the new era.Erica Hernandez
The video"Is a Woman" demonstrates Eliade's concept of Abolition of Norms. Normally, the leaves on a tree would start off in a green color and as the seasons change their colors change as well from yellows to reds. At the end of the video, the leaves jump on the tree while still being red, but then they turn green.

Eliade's uses the seasons to show how plants, trees, and other living things in nature die or move away during the fall and winter. Finding there way back home during the spring and summer to blossom, starting another new cycle.
