October 31: Primordial Chaos

Hello All,

Describe the most memorable example you see this weekend of Eliade's concept of Primordial Chaos.

Have fun!

  1. The most memorable thing I saw this weekend that was an example of Eliade’s primordial chaos was a girl who was wearing caution tape over her boobs, a thong, and heels. This is something girls would only wear on Halloween because if they wore an “outfit” like this every day they would get arrested for nudity or prostitution. Sexy Halloween costumes like the one above are considered chaotic because we generally only see them worn once a year.

  2. I saw a guy girl as well, dressed in a costume thatbi believe she made herself, she had on a bra and under wear literally with nothing else over it, I not to sure what to assume she was.

  3. While at work this weekend one of my coworkers thought it would be fun to dress up in a alien costume and dance around. It is not everyday that you see a dancing alien.

  4. The most memorable example of Primordial Chaos I saw was when one of my coworkers dressed up as a life size Winnie the Pooh from head to toe. Children were going up to her wanting hug her because she looked like a giant stuffed bear.

  6. A memorable example of primordial chaos was a clown drinking at the bar like any ordinary person. Not everyday you see a clown drinking at a bar so casually.

  8. Over the weekend, I saw a man dressed as a Spartan soldier. Not only is it the 21st century, but if Spartan armies still existed, how was this man supposed to protect himself from the enemy with a plastic shield and sword? (Lol)

  9. This weekend when i checked into LAX I witnessed a baby boy dressed as a skeleton. If it was not for Halloween this little boy dressed as a skeleton would be out of the norm. So Halloween causes people to dress up in custom that you wouldnt see on a regular basics.

  10. This weekend I went to Vegas and witnessed many chaotic costumes, but the ones that definitely broke the rules and stood out for me was two men dressed up, one as a tampon and the other as a pad. These men's feminine menstrual product costumes were the most memorable example of primordial chaos.

  11. I went to the mall today and saw a woman dressed as a witch and she was giving out candy. I think that is an example of primordial chaos because during a normal day people wouldn't approach a witch to get candy--specially children.

  12. I witnessed Primordial chaos because I saw a devil baby on a stroller, and puppy riding in a toy car trick-or-treating. Normally my nephew would not have red horns on his head, and my niece would not have brown spots on her. Since it's Halloween, my baby niece and nephew wore costumes and turned into a puppy and devil.

  13. One example of Primordial Chaos is that in people become in animals during Hallowen for example my little nephew becone in a little tiger and my little cousin in a bear. This can be considered a caos because they change of specie for one day.

  14. On Halloween, as I was driving home from work, I had the feeling that someone was watching me. I turned to look at the car next to me and the passanger in the back seat had his window rolled down and was starring right at me. Normally this wouldn't be too strange, but this person was wearing a horrifying clown mask and wig that really shocked me when I saw him, especially because I do not like clowns. He waved at me and I laughed nervously. This is an example of Primordial Chaos because on any other day besides Halloween, I would seriously be freaked out by this.

  15. Yesterday I saw three men dressed up as the Kardashian sisters. I asked them why they picked that costume and they said" Since we can’t marry them, will be them." That was the most intersecting thing that I saw that night. They even painted the bottom of the shoes red so they could Louis Vuitton’s on. You do not see that every day, only on Halloween.

  18. This Halloween, I glimpsed many people and children with different costumes. But one remind me of Primordial Chaos. Adult men dressed up as children and babies while children dressed as old men and women. This is not what you see every day because older men don't really try to look so young or children as old people.

  19. I went through the haunted house in Talladega Frights with my brother and some of my friends. My brother screamed like a little girl, which isn't an everyday occurrence.

  21. The most memorable example of primordial chaos that i observed was of a group of walking zombies, accompanied by a bumble bee and a princess. On any other day their demeanor would be very different than pleasantly saying, "trick-or-treat."
